CO2 Ethanol, EV Efficiency, Biofuel Advancements, SUV Emissions Decrease
Magda Barecka, an assistant professor of chemical engineering and chemistry and chemical biology at Northeastern University, has been turning carbon dioxide into ethanol. In her effort to create a fossil fuel-free world, Barecka and her team are working to create a zero-emissions energy source to power the chemical reactor that drives this change.
Efficiency can cut EV Prices by $5k and charging costs by nearly a third
Boosting energy efficiency extends the range of batteries in EV’s and may have implications for decreasing battery size. This innovation can lower charging costs and lessen the demand on the grid. See more benefits of boosting energy efficiency here.
In East Tennessee, Green Energy BioFuel has partnered with local restaurants to repurpose their used cooking oil to create biofuel to power their vehicles.
Chevron is working to find new ways to collect and refine used cooking oil. They have begun to repurpose the oil used at Sheetz convenience stores to fry french fries by turning it into biodiesel that Sheetz is able to sell to customers.
