EV Grid Assist, Savings for E15 Fuel , and EV Battery Pack Cost Decrease
Helping stakeholders prepare for upcoming advancements in vehicle grid integration (VGI) by providing resources and sharing current and evolving stakeholder approaches to VGI solutions.
E15 (UNL88), a 15% ethanol blended fuel, is a lower-cost, lower-carbon option at the gas pump. As a result of the emergency waivers issued in 2022 and 2023, consumers choosing E15 experienced average cost savings of 10-30 cents per gallon in summer 2023, with some locations offering over $1 off per gallon.

Dairyland Power Cooperative
How long have you been an auxiliary board member of WCC?
Three years… maybe more… not exactly sure, time flies when you are having fun.
Why did you join the WCC Auxiliary Board?
Dairyland Power Cooperative has an interest in bringing clean transportation options to the rural areas that we serve. WCC is the statewide leader in bringing clean transportation efforts so we wanted to be a part of that and leverage their expertise.
What is your favorite part of being a WCC Auxiliary Board Member?
The best part of being an Auxiliary Board Member is the insight it provides into the projects that WCC and the other board members are working on.
What do you love most about your industry?
Working in a member-owned electric utility is rewarding because there is an opportunity to directly assist member-consumers with energy efficiency projects. The shift toward renewable generation sources and electric transportation has also been exciting.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to enter your field?
The energy field is becoming increasingly complex so a strong technical background is important to anyone wanting to work in this space. That said, there are new careers in the energy field that did not even exist a few years ago… from installing and maintaining electric vehicle charging infrastructure to caring for the pollinator gardens at solar farms.
What is your favorite hobby?
I enjoy nature photography with a special interest in landscape and macro subjects.
What's a fun fact about you that not many people know?
We have horses because they are the “love of my wife”. The reason I was able to buy a Mustang Mach E was the fact that my wife could hardly say no to me having a “pony” when she had horses.
What other topics are you passionate about?
I am passionate about energy efficiency and doing things in a more sustainable way.
